Loyola men take streak to Saint Louis

'Hounds enter round of 16 undefeated in 19 games

The Loyola men's soccer team will visit Saint Louis University at 7 p.m. Saturday in a round-of-16 NCAA Division I playoff.

The Greyhounds (17-1-2) extended their unbeaten streak to 19 games with a 1-0 double-overtime win against Maryland on Sunday afternoon. Junior forward Juliano Adriano de Oliveira provided the game-winner in the 116th minute.

The Conference USA champion Billikens, seeded sixth with a 17-1-0 mark, rallied in the second half for a 2-1 victory over Missouri-Kansas City in their second-round game on Sunday.

The last time the teams played each other was in 1990, a 1-0 Saint Louis victory. The Greyhounds, making their first NCAA postseason trip since 1993, are 6-3 in four tournament appearances.

Saturday's winner will advance to a quarterfinal match against the Stanford-Portland winner.
