Daylong seminar offers information on farmers' markets

Maryland's county agricultural economic development specialist will hold a seminar, "Building Better Farmers' Markets," at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 13 at the Howard County Fairgrounds.

The daylong seminar will offer information on pricing and promotions, high-value marketing extenders, market organization, mentoring new vendors, niche marketing, safe food-handling procedures and product selection.

The keynote speaker will be Ann Yonkers, manager of Dupont Circle Farmers' Market in Washington and an American Farmland Trust staff member.

The cost is $15 per person or $25 for two. Registration deadline is Saturday.
