Westside shooting claims life of 45-year-old woman

A 45-year-old woman was shot and killed in West Baltimore yesterday morning, police said.

Brenda P. Brooks of the 2100 block of Mount Holly St. was found in the 1900 block of Chelsea Road about 4:20 a.m., police said. She died about 40 minutes later at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said.

Police said they knew of no motive or suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Michael Glenn of the homicide unit at 410-396-2100.

Harbor ice rink's opening delayed until next week

The Inner Harbor Ice Rink at Rash Field, originally scheduled to open yesterday, will not open until Friday.

The rink will be open seven days a week until March 10, weather permitting. Admission for a two-hour session is $4 on weekdays and $5 on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.

Northbound Harbor Tunnel closed briefly after car fire

The northbound tube of the Harbor Tunnel was closed from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. yesterday after a car caught fire in the tunnel, police said.

A child in another vehicle and two police officers suffering from smoke inhalation were taken to area hospitals, according to a spokesman for the Maryland Transportation Authority police.

BWI sets road closures for bridge construction

LINTHICUM - Baltimore-Washington International Airport's upper-level roadway and lower-level commercial vehicle lane will be closed between midnight and 4 a.m. each day next week, airport officials announced.

The closures, which begin Monday morning and conclude at 4 a.m. Friday, are to permit the construction of pedestrian bridges from the airport's parking garage to the BWI terminal.

During the closures, shuttle buses will load and unload passengers at the outer curb on the lower level.
