Saving those recipes

Here's a way to preserve all those great holiday recipes. The ezLaminator from Manco Inc. uses a cold lamination process to coat paper in a nonyellowing, waterproof film, without using electricity or batteries. The machine is available at Wal-Mart, Staples and other retailers for a suggested retail price of $59.99.

Dishes for diabetics

Having diabetes doesn't mean you have to give up flavor. To prove that point, the American Association of Diabetes Educators and Glaxo-Smith Kline have teamed up to offer a 96-page cookbook of healthy recipes from well-known chefs. Celebrity Chefs Across America - The Ingredients for Managing Diabetes is free through November for people with type 2 diabetes. Call 888-844-8156.

Benefit dinners

You can dine with friends and help raise money to remove land mines throughout the world with "Night of a Thousand Dinners," a benefit for the Adopt-a-Minefield project of the United Nations Association of the U.S.A. and the Canadian Landmine Foundation. The event is being held Nov. 30, with contributions going to clear mines and help land-mine survivors in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Herzegovina and other countries. For more information on how to participate or hold a dinner, check out the Web site, www.1000dinners.com.
