Funding for a second neonatal ventilator OK'd

The Howard Hospital Foundation Finance Committee has approved funding for the purchase of an additional high-frequency oscillatory ventilator for use in Howard County General Hospital's neonatal intensive care unit.

The equipment is used to help newborn infants with underdeveloped lungs breathe, avoiding damage to their lungs. The new machine will serve as a backup whenever the hospital's ventilator is in use, avoiding costly rental fees.
