Falling: Syracuse's Dwight Freeney, who holds single-season sack record, was held without sack.

Top performers, Jeff Kelly: Threw for a Southern Mississippi-record 400 yards and 3 TDs in a 59-6 rout of Tulane.

Sam Clemons: Threw for 472 yards and 5 TDs, breaking a Western Illi nois record for yardage from 1951.

Upset of the week

Washington beat No. 9 Washington State, 26-14, costing the Cougars a chance at a share of the Pac-10 ti tle.
