Exhibit of paintings to feature U.S. scenes

Scenes from America - abandoned barns, farms, landscapes, hummingbirds, eagles and wild animals - will be featured in an exhibit of paintings by Westminster artist Jerry Dewitt at Carroll Community College through Dec. 20.

A reception will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

"Images of America" includes watercolor paintings of scenes in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Montana and Alaska. A painter for more than 35 years, Dewitt has works in private collections across the country. Works by his son, Marc Dewitt of Montana, are included in the exhibition.

Painter, printmaker to exhibit works at CCC

Painter and printmaker Ellen Hill will exhibit her works Sunday to Dec. 14 in Langdon Family Gallery at Carroll Community College.

An opening reception will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the gallery, 1601 Washington Road.

The exhibition will feature Hill's paper pulp paintings and sculptural woodcut boxes.

Hill has been a painter and printmaker for 16 years. She also has taught from elementary school through college.
