Truck-minivan crash causes Beltway backup

November 14, 2001|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A tractor-trailer struck a minivan on the inner loop of the Interstate 695 yesterday morning during rush hour, causing a traffic jam that stretched up to 10 miles. No injuries were reported, state police said.

Troopers from the Golden Ring barracks responded to the accident -- near the on-ramp to the Jones Falls Expressway -- about 8:10 a.m. and found the tractor-trailer blocking three lanes of traffic.

The accident backed up Beltway traffic as far west as Route 40 in Catonsville. It was cleared about an hour later.

Identities of the drivers were not available yesterday.
