College wins grant to study dating violence

Anne Arundel Community College has been awarded a $24,200 grant from the Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention to study dating violence and design programs to prevent it.

The grant was proposed by Women's Institute at AACC, the Anne Arundel County public schools' office of guidance and counseling, and YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.

The study will assess dating violence among students at AACC and a county high school; programs to foster awareness of the problem among students, educators and residents; and prevention programs that can be used at AACC and at county high schools.

New manager: Jane C. Hickey, former director of student financial services at Anne Arundel Community College, has been named manager of student system operations and special assistant to the director of student financial services.
