Woman accused of driving into teens playing football

GLEN BURNIE - A Glen Burnie woman was in jail yesterday after she rammed her car into a group of teen-agers who were playing football, enraged that their ball hit her car, Anne Arundel County police said.

Jody Marie Kittel, 20, was charged with first-degree assault, accused of running into the teen-agers in the 6400 block of Lamplighter Ridge Road about 10 p.m. Thursday and then fleeing the scene. Three of the teens were taken to Harbor Hospital Center, where they were treated for injuries and released.

Kittel, whose bail was set at $35,000, was being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center.

Man charged in shooting of gas station manager

REISTERSTOWN - A man who initially eluded capture by saying he had been the victim of a carjacking has been charged in the shooting Monday of a Reisterstown gas station manager.

Samuel Harris Murray, 41, of the 5000 block of Liberty Road is charged with attempted second-degree murder, attempted armed robbery, first-degree assault, making false statements and using a handgun in the commission of a felony, Baltimore County police said yesterday. He was arrested Thursday.

Police said Murray, who is being held in the county detention center on $100,000 bail, was the getaway driver for a man who shot a Crown gas station manager during a robbery attempt in the 1500 block of Reisterstown Road.

In Baltimore City

Police identify three men killed in separate attacks

A 27-year-old man was shot and killed late Thursday in lower Charles Village, city police said yesterday.

Torrence Johnson of the 3200 block of W. Baltimore St. was found shot "more than once" in the 2200 block of N. Charles St. about 11:10 p.m., said Agent Martin Bartness, a police spokesman.

Police also identified two people slain early Thursday: Lamont Green, 19, of the 5000 block of Pembridge Ave., who was found dead from a head wound in the 3700 block of Towanda Ave.; and Wesley Moses, 33, of the 2000 block of W. Lanvale St., shot in the head in the 700 block of N. Pulaski St.

5 sites in city, Balto. Co. to get rehabilitation funds

Five parks and playgrounds in Baltimore city and county were among 40 projects selected for rehabilitation and expansion funding from a new state grant program, officials announced.

Slated for improvement are Edgewood Recreation Center and Brehms Lane Elementary School in Baltimore; and Holt Park, Southwest Park and Sudbrook Park in Baltimore County.
