Economist to present talks at O'Malley center

Economist John Baer will present a free two-part lecture series at 10 a.m. Nov. 27 and Dec. 4 at O'Malley Senior Center, 1275 Odenton Road. The first session will be "Recessions and Federal Government Polices." For the second session, the topic will be "Market Structures and Federal, State and Local Government."

Therapeutic massages set at South County center

Certified massage therapist Mary Ann Roesler offers therapeutic massages from 9:30 a.m. to noon the first Monday of each month at South County Senior Center, 27 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater. Massages for the head, foot, back and neck will be offered free for people age 55 and older.

Skin cancer screenings scheduled for Nov. 15

North Arundel Hospital and O'Malley Senior Center will co-sponsor skin cancer screenings from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 15 at the senior center, 1275 Odenton Road. Dermatologist Jane Chew will examine skin for abnormalities and discolorations that could be signs of skin cancer.

Audiologist: Audiologist Kristen Krotz will check and clean hearing aids, replace batteries and perform audiograms for people age 55 and older from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 13 at South County Senior Center, 27 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater. Broadway songs: Senior Star Showcase of Community College of Baltimore County, a theater group from the Essex campus, will present show tunes from the musical Broadway Baby from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 13 at O'Malley Senior Center, 1275 Odenton Road. Bagpipes: David Phillips, head docent of Bagpipe Music Museum in Ellicott City, will discuss the history - and myths of the origin - of the bagpipes at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Pascal Senior Center, 125 Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie. Bowling: South County Senior Center is seeking bowlers to join the center's bowling team. A van trip to Annapolis Bowling will be offered the third Wednesday of each month. The next bowling trip, scheduled for Nov. 21, will leave the center at 10:10 a.m. and return at 1:30 p.m. Sign-up is requested. Participants should plan to buy lunch at the bowling alley.

Vendors sought: O'Malley Senior Center is seeking vendors for its annual holiday craft fair, to be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1 at the center, 1275 Odenton Road. The fee for a table is $30. Information: 410-222-6227.
