Nickel package

Ravens 13, Steelers 10

November 05, 2001|By Jamison Hensley

Thumbs up: Chris McAlister, for tipping Kris Brown's 33-yard field-goal attempt in the third quarter. That play seemed to have a lasting effect on Brown, who sliced two kicks wide right in the fourth quarter.

Thumbs down: Corner- back Duane Starks. He again paid for a lack of concentration as Pittsburgh receiver Plaxico Burress burned him on a 21-yard touchdown catch in the final minute of the first half. In the past four games, Starks has given up four touchdown catches on man coverage.

Stat of game:39-- Average distance on the four field goals missed by Brown. Before yesterday's game, he had failed on only 11 attempts in his three-year Steelers career.

Quotable: "When you get into ballgames that you really need to win, those are the ones that you have to pull out. One thing about the NFL, if you win in November, nine times out of 10 you're in the playoffs." -- Ravens middle linebacker Ray Lewis on the significance of yesterday's victory.

Trainer's room: Nickel back James Trapp (strained groin) is questionable for next Monday's game at Tennessee.
