A 17-year-old Taneytown youth was charged as an adult yesterday in the rapes of three Carroll County teen-agers in the past year, according to investigators with the Maryland State Police Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit in Westminster.

Nathaniel Jared Yinger of the 2800 block of Basehore's Mill Road has been charged with three counts of second-degree rape, one count of second-degree sex offense, one count of sodomy and three counts of second-degree assault. He was arrested at his home.

Investigators were called to Carroll County General Hospital on Sept. 29 for the reported rape of an 18-year-old woman, they said. Further investigation uncovered two more reported rapes in December and February of two other teen-agers, both 16. All three were acquainted with the suspect, police said.
