Folk concert is tomorrow at St. Paul's

October 31, 2001

Maine's Gordon Bok and Virginia's Bob Zentz are meeting in Maryland for a folk concert at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at St. Paul's Chapel, St. Paul's School for Boys in Brooklandville.

The concert, "Companions by the Sea," is sponsored by Common Ground on the Hill, an arts and music summer program devoted to promoting diversity through the arts.

The program, developed by recording artist and dulcimer performer Walt Michael, is in residence at Western Maryland College.

Bok and Zentz, who met years ago while touring separately, get together every few years for a minitour, according to Michael, who has played host to performers at Common Ground's summer workshops.

Their repertoires include sea songs and chanteys, poems set to music, contemporary works, regional songs, traditional ballads, instrumental tunes, recitations and original folk tradition selections.

The duo play guitar, cittern, squeezebox, whistle, zither and banjo.

Admission is $15 for adults and seniors; $5 for students (college and secondary school).

Children age 12 and younger get in free when accompanied by an adult.

Tickets will be sold at the door.
