Oregon official to discuss benefits of urban parks

The benefits of urban parks will be discussed by Charles Jordan, parks and recreation director of Portland, Ore., in a lecture at 6 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen House, 4545 N. Charles St.

Jordan's talk, "Building Communities through Parks, People and Programs," is the third annual Garrett Lecture on Urban Issues, commemorating the interest of the Garrett family - original owners of the mansion - in recreation and urban planning issues.

Admission is $8 for Evergreen members and affiliates of the Johns Hopkins University, and $10 for the pubilc. A reception will be held after the lecture. Reservations: 410-516-0341.
