Director named at Howard's office for family, children

Sharon Thompson of Ellicott City has been hired as director of the Howard County Office of Family and Children's Services. She is a licensed clinical social worker and has served in administrative and clinical positions.

Anne Yenchko has been named coordinator for special projects. She will be responsible for Making A Difference, a family support program, and Healthy Families, a program for first-time parents.

Columbian to be named to institute's cancer panel

Doug Ulman will be appointed to the Director's Consumer Liaison Group of the National Cancer Institute, a forum for exchanging information and opinions between cancer activists and the scientific community.

Ulman, a longtime resident of Columbia and graduate of Centennial High School, is founder of the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults and director of survivorship for the Lance Armstrong Foundation in Austin, Texas.

Collins named manager of technology services

John F. Collins has been named manager of technology services at PCA technologies, llc.

PCA technologies is a member of the PCA Group, a Columbia company that provides consulting services to businesses and trade associations.
