Three killed in Wicomico auto crashes

October 29, 2001

State police said excessive speed was a factor in two single-car accidents early yesterday in Wicomico County that claimed three lives.

Jason Elmer Williams, 27, of Tyaskin was driving north about 1:30 a.m. when his 1997 Ford pickup truck ran off rural Clara Road and struck a telephone pole. Williams, who was not wearing his seat belt, suffered head injuries and died en route to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

About 2:30 a.m., Stephanie Lynn Horne, 31, of Willards was driving north on Green Branch Road when she lost control of her 1974 Mercedes. The car struck a tree and burst into flames, killing her and a passenger, Christian Edward Moore, 39, of Hebron.

Another passenger, John Levin Horne, 30, of Willards, was thrown from the car. He was being treated at Peninsula, police said.
