2 rooms in county building to be closed

October 23, 2001

The tax collections office and mail room at the County Office Building in Westminster will be closed at least today after a suspicious package arrived there yesterday afternoon, Carroll officials said.

The county commissioners decided to close the two rooms at the building in the 200 block of N. Center St. while the package is investigated, said Jennifer Ruppert, a county spokeswoman to whom Westminster police referred questions.

Ruppert had no details about the package, which had been sealed off for handling by a hazard ous-materials team.

The offices will remain closed until the contents have been verified.
