Extension service to sponsor forest seminar

Maryland Cooperative Extension will hold the 2001 Mid-Atlantic Forest Stewardship Seminar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 3 at Frederick Community College.

The day will include three workshops in each of four sessions.

Session I: Land preservation, bringing back the American chestnut and attracting wildlife to residential property.

Session II: Managing vole and deer damage, developing a Web site, and insects and diseases that affect wooded lots.

Session III: Invasive plants, using and calibrating backpack sprayers and living with wildlife.

Session IV: Basics of woodland management, organic insect control and using and calibrating backpack sprayers.

The cost is $20, or $35 for pairs, until Friday. After that date, the cost will be $25 per person.
