Carroll County Arts Council plans fourth annual Festival of Wreaths

October 14, 2001

The Carroll County Arts Council will sponsor its fourth annual Festival of Wreaths from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1 in the Winchester Exchange Building in downtown Westminster.

This year's festival will feature awards for the most patriotic wreath and the best spirit-of-peace wreath. At least 10 percent of the proceeds from the auction of the wreaths will go to the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, whose offices were destroyed in the World Trade Center attack Sept. 11.

Artists, craftspeople, businesses and others wishing to decorate a wreath must register by Nov. 9 with the Arts Council at 15 E. Main St., Westminster. A 24-inch artificial wreath will be given to registrants to decorate, along with two tickets to a preview party Nov. 27.

Wreaths will be available for pickup after Nov. 1 and should be returned to the Arts Council between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Nov. 21, 24 or 26. Rules and tips for decorating will be available at registration.

A wreath-decorating workshop will be offered by Carroll Garden Club from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 6. The cost is $10. Registration is required.

Information: 410-848-7272.
