Maryland offense vs. Georgia Tech defense: Tailback Bruce Perry (821 yards, 7 TDs) remains the focus, though quarterback Shaun Hill had his best effort against Virginia, throwing for two scores and rushing for another. The pair will encounter a Tech unit led by defensive ends Greg Gathers and Nick Rogers. Gathers has seven sacks in five games, and Rogers has five tackles for losses with one sack.

Maryland defense vs. Georgia Tech offense: Quarterback George Godsey leads a Tech offense that ranks ninth nationally in scoring (39.8 ppg) and total offense (460.0 ypg). Joe Burns also had 174 total yards in the Duke game. Maryland's secondary, eaten alive in the last meeting with Tech, is much improved, led by Tony Okanlawon and his four interceptions.

Special teams: The Terps blocked two kicks, prevented runbacks and got 11 points from Nick Novak during the win over Virginia. Luke Manget is considered one of the nation's best place-kickers, and has hit nine of his 10 field goals this season.
