Association plans regional expo for hospitality industries

The Restaurant Association of Maryland, 6301 Hillside Court, Columbia, will sponsor a Mid-Atlantic Expo Regional Show for the food, beverage and lodging industries Oct. 24 to 25 at the Timonium Fairgrounds.

More than 600 food, equipment, packaging and other vendors are expected. Local and national manufacturers, distributors, brokers and other suppliers will offer demonstrations and samples to the hospitality industry.

Communication, bottom line link to be explored Nov. 8

Jim Allen and Yvonne Chiarelli, local business coaches, will offer a workshop on good communication and its effect on the bottom line for local businesses and professionals from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at Stonehouse in Long Reach village, 8775 Cloudleap Court, Columbia.

The workshop, "Help! Is Anybody Listening? (Better Communication for Better Business)," costs $199 through Oct. 17 or $249 at the door.

Nominations being sought for business award

The mayor of Baltimore, the Greater Baltimore Committee and the Baltimore Development Corp. will join to recognize businesses that have demonstrated corporate leadership and service. Nominations are invited for the Mayor's Business Recognition Award.

The awards are given for activities or projects that have significantly benefited the community. Howard County businesses are eligible to apply.

Nominations, which must be received by Nov. 16, should be mailed to Jay Stewart, director of events, Greater Baltimore Committee, 111 S. Calvert St., Suite 1700, Baltimore 21202.
