Public Relations Society seeking award nominees

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County chapter of Public Relations Society of America is accepting nominations for its Silver Dome Awards to recognize outstanding public-relations programs and practitioners. Businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations and associations are invited to submit nominations.

The entry deadline is Nov. 16. Winners will be honored at a luncheon in December.

Historical Trust offers local-government grants

Maryland Historical Trust, an agency of the state Department of Housing and Community Development, is accepting applications for Preservation Incentives for Local Government grants. County governments are eligible for the grants, which may be used to help pay for heritage preservation activities, surveys and evaluation plans.

The application deadline is Oct. 31. Grants awards will be announced by the end of December.

Business expo: The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual business expo from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Radisson Hotel in Annapolis. Admission to the expo is $5. More than 55 local businesses will display exhibits. Information: 410-268-7676.

Commerce workshop: The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will hold a workshop, "Using the Internet to Best Serve Your Business," Friday. Another workshop, "Using Act! 2000 and QuickBooks," will be held Oct. 19, and "A Tour of Microsoft Office" is scheduled for Oct. 26. All workshops are from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the chamber offices, 151 West St., Annapolis. The cost is $15 per workshop, or $40 for all three. Information: 410-268-7676, Ext. 110.

Crab feast: Maryland Job Service and the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce will hold a crab feast from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at the Severna Park Elks 2482 building, Truck House and Jennings roads, Severna Park. The event will feature all-you-can-eat crabs, soup, fried chicken, hot dogs, salads, dessert, beer and soda. The cost is $30. Information: 410-315-8873.

SCORE workshop: SCORE Chapter 390 will conduct a workshop, "Using the Internet for Business," from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Chesapeake Room of the Heritage Office Complex, 2664 Riva Road, Annapolis. Exchange breakfast: The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will hold a joint business exchange breakfast from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Oct. 18 at Stampede Steakhouse, 8015 Fort Smallwood Road, Pasadena.
