Hopkins women fall to N.J., 2-0

The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team lost to Division III's top-ranked College of New Jersey, 2-0, yesterday at Homewood Field.

The Lions scored two second-half goals and improved to 11-0 with their 26th consecutive victory. The Blue Jays fell to 7-2-1.

Senior forward Denise Buckley opened the scoring in the 67th minute on an assist from junior forward Gia Rosamilia.

Junior Cara Gabage provided the final score of the match in the 79th minute, heading in a cross from the right side by senior Dana Vetrone.

Junior goalkeeper Shannon O'Malley made six saves for Hopkins, as the Lions outshot the Blue Jays, 17-4, and held a 12-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Senior Victoria Nusse totaled two saves for the Lions, who have yet to allow a goal this season.

The Blue Jays return to action at 11 a.m. Saturday at Swarthmore.
