Principal honored by state department

October 03, 2001

Century High School Principal David Booz has been recognized by the Maryland State Department of Education for his leadership in promoting service-learning experiences for students.

Booz was one of nine principals named as honorable mentions in the Maryland Student Service Alliance principal-of-the-year contest. Ida Polcari of Benjamin Banneker Middle School in Montgomery County took the first-place $1,000 award.

At a ceremony today at the Maritime Institute in Baltimore, Booz and others receiving honorable mentions each will receive $200 to support service-learning activities in their schools. Booz was principal of South Carroll High School for a decade before being appointed in July 2000 to open Century High.
