WINE OF THE WEEK

1999 Marc Bredif Vouvray ($13). This dry, crisp white wine from France's Loire Valley shows the elegance and persistence the chenin blanc grape can achieve in the hands of the right producer. It shows complex herb and mineral flavors and restrained, subtle fruit. Its bracing acidity gives intensity and a long finish. If stored in a cool cellar, a Bredif Vouvray can improve for up to 10 years - a rarity among dry white wines. Serve with white-fleshed fish or shellfish or spicy Asian food.
