Feisty hogs

These pigs are descendants of Spanish pigs

that were left on an island off Georgia by explorers to use as food for future expeditions. Their coloration ranges from black to spotted red and tan.

1. Females are pregnant for 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days.

2. These hogs develop extensive fat reserves that help them survive when food is scarce.

3. They have been the only pigs on Ossabaw Island for approximately 500 years!
