Red Sox update

The season can't end soon enough for both teams. The Red Sox once led the wild-card race, but disappeared from sight after Jimy Williams was fired as manager. Carl Everett's latest suspension ended, but he's probably done for the season because of a knee injury. He went to Florida to receive a second opinion. Tension continues to fill the clubhouse, with Everett accusing manager Joe Kerrigan of directing a racial epithet at him. The Red Sox should consider the year a success if they don't fall out of second place. Toronto remains only three games behind them. Lowe began the year as the Red Sox's closer before losing the job. These teams have another four-game series remaining in Baltimore to close the season. The Orioles are 6-5 against the Red Sox, with the clubs splitting six games at Fenway Park.
