Bengals 21, Ravens 10

September 24, 2001|By Jamison Hensley

Thumbs up: To Elvis Grbac for still being able to stand up in the fourth quarter. The Ravens QB was only sacked twice but was hit or hurried on at least half of his 63 attempts.

Thumbs down: To WR Patrick Johnson for his three costly mistakes. His fumble on the opening kickoff of the second half set the tone for the rest of the game. He also stepped in the back of the end zone to take away a second-quarter touchdown, and dropped a pass that turned into an interception that squashed the Ravens' building momentum in the fourth quarter.

Stat of game: 168 - Bengals' return yardarge off three interceptions and three fumbles.

Quotable: "That's what happens ... when you leave a team like that hanging around. They start to feel good about themselves and all of a sudden, it's like, 'Hey we got the world champions on the ropes.' They went in for the knockout and they did it." - Ravens TE Shannon Sharpe.

Trainer's room: TE Todd Heap suffered a high ankle sprain in the third quarter and likely will be questionable for Sunday's game at Denver. RT Sammy Williams sprained a knee in the second quarter and will be re-evaluated today. He was replaced by Erik Williams.
