Chamber plans workshops on business technology

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce has scheduled three technology workshops next month for people who want to learn more about the Internet, business software programs and Microsoft applications. Workshops will be held at the chamber offices, 151 West St., Annapolis.

"Using the Internet to Best Serve Your Business," is planned for Oct. 12. "Using Act! 2000 and QuickBooks" will take place Oct. 19. Workshop leaders will discuss the main features of the programs and show how businesses can use them.

"A Tour of Microsoft Office," scheduled for Oct. 26, will teach participants about Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, Frontpage and Outlook.

All workshops are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. The cost is $15 per workshop, or $40 for all three.

Law firm schedules estate planning sessions

The Annapolis law firm of Hyatt Peters & Weber has scheduled estate planning workshops for 4 p.m. tomorrow and 4 p.m. Oct. 2 at the firm's office, 1919 West St., Annapolis.

The first workshop will focus on basic estate planning and planning for long-term care needs.

The second workshop will focus on advanced estate tax planning for individuals with assets of more than $675,000 or couples with assets of more than $1.35 million. Other topics will include techniques for reducing estate taxes and the use of trusts.

Providing services: The Coordinating Center, a Millersville-based nonprofit organization that provides care-management services for children and adolescents with medical needs and disabilities, has been selected to coordinate community services through a program administered by the Maryland Department of Human Resources Office of Personal Assistance Services.


Real estate: The Severna Park office of Coldwell Banker Stevens, Realtors offers a free seminar, "Getting Started in Your Real Estate Career" from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays at 484-C Ritchie Highway. Information: 410-647-5800.
