Glen Burnie's Weaver undergoes brain scan

September 23, 2001|By FROM STAFF REPORTS

Glen Burnie girls soccer player Jessica Weaver, who was expected to be released yesterday from Maryland Shock Trauma Center after suffering swelling to her spinal column, underwent a brain scan last night, according to her mother.

Judi Weaver said that her daughter was to have "a brain MRI [magnetic resonance imaging]" so doctors could determine if she had sustained "a concussion to the cervical column."

"She's had decreased feeling in parts of her body today [Saturday]," Judi Weaver said.

Jessica Weaver injured her spinal column Thursday night after falling on her right shoulder in the Gophers' 5-1 loss at No. 5 Severna Park.
