September 23, 2001|By FROM STAFF REPORTS

Night Breeze remained undefeated as she routed a field of seven 2-year-old fillies in the $60,000 Toddler Stakes yesterday at Pimlico Race Course.

Night Breeze, under jockey Ramon Dominguez, broke with the pack, then quickly shot by pacesetter Friona two furlongs from the gate. She breezed along unopposed the rest of the way, crossing under the finish line in 1 minute, 12.13 seconds for the six furlongs over a fast main track. Chain Blue chased the winner home and finished second. Phyxius was third.

Also yesterday, Incredible Carson took the $60,000 Primer Stakes for 2-year-old colts and geldings.

Under jockey Travis Dunkelberger, the 3-2 post time favorite charged to the lead, fended off all comers down the backstretch and around the turn, then spurted away to win by 4 1/4 lengths. Outstander rallied out of the pack to be second. Square Cut Diamond finished third.

The winner completed six furlongs in 1:11.17.
