Two teen-agers and a Westminster man have been charged in connection with a beating at a field party last week near Hampstead, according to Maryland State Police in Westminster.

William Leroy Vollmer Jr., 18, of the 100 block South Center St. was taken by helicopter to Maryland Shock Trauma Center about 1 a.m. Sept. 9, where he was treated for head injuries and released about 12 hours later, police said.

The incident arose from a disagreement during a field party on a farm lane off Greenmount Church Road, where several youths assaulted Vollmer, according to police.

Authorities were notified after a friend of the victim became lost while taking him to a hospital.

She pulled over on Route 482 near North Carroll High School and flagged down a passing motorist, who had a cellular phone.

Charged with second-degree assault and conspiracy were two 17-year-olds, both of whom were charged as juveniles and released to their parents, and Kevin Allen Strevig, 20, of Hilltop Drive.

Strevig also was charged with second-degree assault and conspiracy.
