Flight information screens to include baggage belt numbers

To help passengers find their luggage more quickly and easily, the flight information display screens in the Baltimore-Washington International Airport terminal now show baggage belt numbers next to the information on arriving flights.

Display screens in the main terminal and the gate areas on the upper and lower levels are updated by each airline. Baggage numbers posted on the display screens correspond to the numbered belts in the baggage claim areas on the terminal's lower level.

Volunteers sought to work at information desks

The Maryland Office of Tourism is looking for qualified volunteers to help at BWI's information desks.

Applicants must be able to work at least one four-hour shift a week. The airport's information desks are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, and all shifts are available. Qualified applicants must be patient, friendly and responsible. Multilingual abilities are a plus, and applicants must have basic computer skills.

Tourism officials say this is an ideal opportunity for travel and tourism students and retirees who enjoy meeting people and would like to help travelers find their way.

Free parking is provided, and the Office of Tourism holds a yearly appreciation banquet and occasional educational trips to destinations in Maryland.

To arrange an interview: Rachel Calkins, 410-859-7555, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Shuttle service expands at satellite parking lot

Travelers using the Gold Lot at Baltimore-Washington International Airport may notice increased shuttle bus frequency to and from the terminal, starting Sept. 27, airport officials said. The GlobeGround Co. has added an additional bus to the five-fleet route to help transport passengers between the terminal and parking lot more frequently.

Additional shuttle service will be added, beginning Sept. 17.

Parking garage reopens at airport rail station

The airport's rail station parking garage has reopened, with parking available on Levels 1 through 5.

The new sixth and seventh floors will open soon. A second, seven-level garage is being constructed and is expected to be completed by December.
