Chamber breakfast to be held Sept. 26 at Hemingway's

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce has scheduled its monthly power breakfast from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at Hemingway's Restaurant, on Pier One Road in Stevensville.

The breakfast will feature presentations, door prizes and those who attend will have the opportunity to network and promote their businesses.

The cost for members is $17 if payment is received by Sept. 17, or $22 at the door. Non-members cost $27. Reservations can be made by calling 410-268-7676q, ext. 110.

Technology seminars offered at chamber office

A six-part technology seminar series will be offered by the Annapolis and Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21 and Sept. 28 at the chamber office, 151 West St., Suite 101.

"Using Technology Tools For Lead Generation and Follow-up" starts at 8:30 a.m. Friday, and those who attend will learn the basics of making contacts, building relationships and getting results from technology tools.

"Mobile Technology & Computing" is at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 21. Participants will learn the pros and cons of mobile systems, including laptops and portable printing devices.

On Sept. 28, "Setting Up the Home Office/Small Office" will teach about planning a technology system in a small-office setting, and tools designed for businesses of 15 employees or less.

The seminar fees are $15 per session, $40 for three sessions or $75 for the entire series. Pre-registration is requested. Forms can be obtained by calling 410-268-7676, Ext. 110.

News notes

Receives grant: The Historic Annapolis Foundation has received a $30,000 grant from the Baltimore-based Constellation Energy Group. The money will go toward existing programs and new initiatives.


New associate: Joyce Smithson of Crofton joined the Annapolis office of Coldwell Banker Stevens, Realtors. She previously worked for a new-home builder.

New engineer: The engineering firm McCrone, Inc., has hired Christopher J. Kloss as a design engineer in its Annapolis office. The Crofton resident will design projects involving water distribution, treatment and storage, as well as wastewater collection and treatment.


Golf tourney: The Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual "Driving Force for Business" golf tournament Sept. 24 at Chartwell Country Club, 1 Chartwell Drive, Severna Park. Check-in will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Cost is $150 per golfer. Information: 410-647-3900.

Real estate: The Severna Park office of Coldwell Banker Stevens, Realtors, offers free "Getting Started In Your Real Estate Career" seminars from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the office, 484-C Ritchie Highway. Information: 410-647-5800.

YWCA meeting: The YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County will hold its annual business meeting Sept. 20 at the Sheraton Barcelo Hotel in Annapolis. The meeting will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Dr. Martha Smith, the president of Anne Arundel Community College, will speak at 8 p.m., and this year's volunteer awards will be presented. Dinner is $30 for YWCA members and $35 for nonmembers. Reservations: 410-626-7800.
