Essential oils may be key to curing nail

Q. I read your column about Vicks VapoRub as a treatment for toenail fungus. I tried it, and it worked beautifully. Within two months, my nail looked normal with an application every other night before going to bed.

That was almost a year ago, and it still looks fine. I continue to put the Vicks on once a week, if I remember. My nail was awful for years before I read of this remedy, so I thank you.

A. Not everyone gets as good a response as you did, but we are delighted so many of our readers report success using Vicks VapoRub against nail fungus. Some of the essential oils in Vicks (thymol, cedarleaf oil, eucalyptus oil, menthol, turpentine oil) have antifungal properties.
