Carroll County General makes two appointments

Carroll County General Hospital has announced two staff appointments.

Mary Lou Buck has been named senior recruitment specialist. She has more than 20 years' experience in human resources and will be responsible for recruitment of the hospital's registered and licensed practical nurses, pharmacists and other clinical professionals.

She has a master's degree in education from West Chester University in Pennsylvania and is a member of the Maryland Association of Healthcare Recruiters.

Linda Hutsell has been promoted to director of human resources. She will be responsible for employment, recruitment, compensation, benefits administration and employee relations.

She has been manager of employment services at the hospital since 1997. She has a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Villa Julie College and is a member of the Maryland Association of Healthcare Recruiters and the Society for Human Resources Management.

Alzheimer's benefit walk to be held Oct. 6

The 2001 Memory Walk to benefit the Alzheimer's Association will be held Oct. 6 in conjunction with the Sykesville Fall Festival.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Main Street. The event will begin at 9 a.m.

Proceeds will go to the Central Maryland chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. The Memory Walk is the association's largest fund-raiser.

Refreshments and door prizes will be available.

Free team captain kits and brochures are available. Sponsors are welcome.

Bon Secours to hold workshop on grief Sept. 29

Bon Secours Spiritual Center in Marriottsville will offer a workshop on grief from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 29.

"Grief: On the Edge of Despair" will explore making sense of a loss, spirituality and grieving, and moving through the pain of grief.

Presenters will include Janet R. Merkel, a pastoral counselor from Loyola College, and K.E. Bailey.

The cost is $45, including lunch. Registration is required by Sept. 21.
