Mariners update

The Orioles' home-and-home experience against West Coast teams finally ends this weekend with a three-game series at Safeco Field against the game's most dominant team. The Mariners have "struggled" to win their past two series, including last week's three-game set at Camden Yards. They reached 100 wins Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The Mariners join the 1998 New York Yankees and 1969 Orioles as the third team since 1954 to climb 60 games over .500. In their past 13 games, the Mariners have scored three runs or fewer seven times, including the Orioles' 3-0 win Aug. 31. The Orioles are hitting .221 with 15 runs while going 1-5 against the Mariners this season. While the Orioles - 1-8 against the Mariners and the Oakland Athletics since Aug. 28 - still search for their first sweep of a three-game series, the Mariners have yet to lose three consecutive games.
