1. Centennial

Last season: 19-1 (2000 rank: No. 1)

The Eagles have finished the season No. 1 seven of the past 10 seasons.

2. Towson

Last season: 18-2 (No. 5)

If the Generals (North region) meet Centennial (West) it will be in the Class 2A state final.

3. Severna Park

Last season: 14-5 (No. 7)

The Falcons have been revitalized by rookie coach Julie Allen and are ready to contend in 3A East.

4. River Hill

Last season: 16-4 (No. 4)

Height is a plus for Hawks, 34-7 the past two years, but they have to contend with Severna Park in 3A East.

5. Dulaney

Last season: 20-0 (No. 2)

The two-time defending 4A state champions move down to 3A North and could meet Northern-Calvert in the state semis.

6. Broadneck

Last season: 19-2 (No. 6)

The Bruins might have just enough returning firepower to repeat as 4A East champions.

7. Glenelg

Last season: 7-7 (unranked)

Second-year coach Jennifer Beal has the Gladiators on the move, but must go through Centennial in the 2AWest.

8. Catonsville

Last season: 12-3 (No. 9)

The 2A Comets will be competitive as usual, but overcoming Towson and Dulaney in Baltimore County may be too much to ask.

9. Mount Hebron

Last season: 10-6 (No. 15)

With a new coach coming in late, the Vikings may struggle early, but their experience could have them challenging in 3A East at the end.

10. C. Milton Wright

Last season: 11-3 (No. 11 )

The 4A East Mustangs are slight favorites in Harford County over Fallston and Bel Air.

11. CHEN

Last season: 23-3 (unranked)

Loaded with club players, the home schoolers were third in their national tournament last year and will dominate in the Maryland Christian Athletic League.

12. Liberty

Last season: 13-4 (No. 12)

A 3A West finalist to Thomas Johnson (moved up to 4A East) last year, the Carroll County Lions may have enough back to win the region.

13. Francis Scott Key

Last season: 16-3 (No. 3)

With only one returning starter, the two-time state runner-up to Centennial is now in the same 2A West region with the Eagles.

14. Fallston

Last season: 13-4 (unranked)

State semifinalists last season, the Cougars now get Dulaney in their region.

15. IND

Last season: 20-5 (unranked)

With 10 returnees, the Indians are the team to beat in Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland.
