I-695 repairs in E. Balto. Co. likely to cause traffic delays

August 27, 2001|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Two road resurfacing projects in eastern Baltimore County are expected to cause some traffic delays on Interstate 695 over the next few months.

The State Highway Administration will spend $4.2 million to resurface the inner loop of the Baltimore Beltway between Eastern Boulevard and the CSX railroad bridge. The project will include repairs to the outer loop between Interstate 95 and Perring Parkway.

FOR THE RECORD - An article in yesterday's Maryland section about road work on Interstate 695 gave incorrect hours for temporary ramp closures at the Perring Parkway and Harford Road interchanges. The ramp closures might occur between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. The Sun regrets the error.

Construction crews will patch and resurface the road and ramps, raise reflective road markers and replace traffic barriers and signs.

For the inner-loop project, single-lane closings will occur from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sundays.

On the outer loop, single-lane closings will occur from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Double-lane closings might occur from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on those days.

Temporary ramp closures at the Perring Parkway and Harford Road interchanges might occur between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

State officials hope to have the projects completed by late fall. Motorists with questions about the projects can call the SHA's District 4 office: 410-321-2800 or 800-962-3077.
