East Columbia
Hayshed Lane: 8700 block, Long Reach. Three adults and one juvenile were arrested for being in a vacant apartment Friday night. Fourteen people were charged with burglary in the apartment Aug. 5.
Centre Park Drive: 8700 block, Long Reach. Two men armed with a dark-colored semiautomatic handgun entered a Royal Farm store just before 3 a.m. Friday. One man held the gun on the clerk while the other removed money from the cash register. Police responded to the scene 12 minutes after the robbery because the clerk called his manager before calling 911.
Sewells Orchard Road: 6800 block, Owen Brown. Someone removed a garage door opener Aug. 7 or 8 from an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway. The person then opened the garage door and took a bicycle. Coins and compact discs were taken from the vehicle.
Berger Road: 9200 block. Someone smashed the glass front door of Kimmel Tire early Saturday. Loose change from a cash register was taken.
West Columbia
Cedar Lane: 5000 block, Harper's Choice. A man walking home alone about 1 a.m. Friday was approached by three young men. One pulled a knife and announced a robbery. Others took a Walkman and money from the man, and all three fled on foot toward Harpers Farm Road.
Harpers Farm Road: 5500 block, Harper's Choice. Kevin Allen Virgil smashed the rear sliding-glass door to a townhouse of a person he knew between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Friday and stole cash and a Mossburg 12-gauge shotgun. Virgil committed suicide later in the day with the gun at his former girlfriend's apartment complex.

Dorsey Run Road: 7900 block, Jessup. Someone forced open the rear door of Superior Auto Sales on Friday night or Saturday morning and stole a set of keys to a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire that was parked on the lot. The car was stolen.
