Presentation set Sept. 11 on migratory birds

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Patuxent Bird Club and Prince George's County Audubon Society will sponsor "Living on the Wind: The World of Migratory Birds," a free presentation by author and naturalist Scott Weidensaul from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 11, at the National Wildlife Visitor Center, 10901 Scarlet Tanager Loop, Laurel.

Registration is not necessary. Those with special needs can be accommodated with two weeks' notice.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Patuxent Research Refuge will offer a "Wildlife Wander" for ages 16 and older from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Participants should bring field guides, if possible, and water on the guided walk.

"Wet & Wild: Wetland Exploration for Teens" for ages 13 to 15 will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The group will explore wetland ecology, energy mapping, wildlife habitat and causes of wetland decline. Participants should bring lunch and water and dress for the outdoors. Clothes are likely to get wet and muddy. Insect repellent is recommended.

The programs are free, but registration is required.
