Two teen-agers arrested last week and charged with a 10-day robbery rampage in the city -- including the shooting of a Canton businessman -- were charged yesterday with three street robberies in Baltimore County.
Duane M. Johnson Jr. of the 2700 block of Hemlock Ave. and Leonard Ball Jr. of the 1700 block of Abbotson St., both 17, were each charged with three counts of armed robbery and three counts of using a handgun in commission of a violent crime, according to court documents.
Both have been held at the Baltimore city jail since they were charged with six counts of armed robbery, as well as with attempted first-degree murder in the Canton shooting, in connection with crimes that occurred in the city during the last 10 days of July.
They are suspects in at least nine other city robberies, city police said.
Baltimore County police charged the teen-agers after interviewing them after their arrest in the city.
According to court documents, county detectives connected both teens to a robbery July 22 in the 1000 block of Pleasant Oaks Road in Parkside Heights and a street robbery July 23 in the Towson Town Center parking lot. The teens have also been charged in a robbery July 27 in the 900 block of Southerly Road in Towson.
In all cases, police say the teen-agers approached the victims while brandishing a handgun and demanded money.
In the city, Johnson and Ball have been charged in four armed robberies that occurred in Charles Village and one in Northeast Baltimore. They also were charged in the armed robbery and nonfatal shooting July 29 of a man in Canton.
Johnson acknowledged to county detectives that he and Ball committed the robberies July 23 and July 27 in Towson, according to court documents.
Detectives charged the two in the robbery July 22 because the victim told police she recognized them as the same teens who robbed her, court documents said.
