Camp update

August 03, 2001|By Brent Jones

Thumbs up: Michael McCrary for his bull's rush against Jonathan Ogden during drills. McCrary pushed the Pro Bowler back several yards, something that's very rare.

Thumbs down: Defensive back Pete Destefano was late coming in for a play in a goal-line situation, then got flattened a few plays later by a tight end.

Trainer's room: Defensive backs Gary Baxter (hamstring) and James Trapp (shoulder) did not practice.

Quotable: "It was a really good depiction of what goes on in training camp. I see a lot of shows that really don't portray the NFL the right way. But that did." - linebacker Peter Boulware on Hard Knocks.

Today's schedule: Full practice, 8:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.; Scrimmage 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Countdown to season opener: 37 days.
