Ferndale church plans Polynesian luau Aug. 4
Ferndale United Methodist Church will hold a Polynesian luau at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at the church's fellowship hall, 117 Ferndale Road, Glen Burnie. The event will feature a dinner of baked ham, pork, potatoes and homemade desserts, and a hula contest. Participants are encouraged to wear colorful Hawaiian shirts or muumuus.
Proceeds will go toward the church's missionary work.
The cost for the dinner is $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 6 to 12. A child's hot dog platter will be available for $4. Children younger than 5 will be admitted free. Information: 410-761-2880.
Bible school: Calvary United Methodist Church invites children ages 3 to 11 to its Son Creek Junction Vacation Bible School from Sunday through Thursday at the church, 301 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis. Children will eat dinner at 5 p.m., and a program featuring songs, skits, crafts, games and the "five nuggets" for Christian growth will follow at 5:45 p.m. The program is free, but offerings will be taken. Bus trip: Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Pasadena is organizing a bus trip for the Bill and Gloria Gaither Homecoming 2001 concert Sept. 8 at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, N.J.
