Patuxent Research Refuge to present guided tour to view wildlife, habitats

Patuxent Research Refuge will present its Twilight Tram Tour at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at the National Wildlife Visitor Center, on Powder Mill Road between Baltimore-Washington Parkway and Route 197 in Laurel. During a guided tour through forests, meadows and wetlands, participants can view wildlife and learn how the refuge manages wildlife habitats.

Tickets are $2 for adults, and $1 for children age 12 and younger and adults age 55 and older. Registration: 301-497-5887.

Completes basic: Marine Corps Pvt. Michael A. Pecilunas Jr., son of Cynthia L. Graham-Sampson of Crownsville and Michael A. Pecilunas of Odenton, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Pecilunas is a 2000 graduate of St. Vincent Pallotti High School in Laurel.

Student

Honors graduate: Melissa Villanueva, daughter of Federico and Lorna Villanueva of Severn, graduated summa cum laude from Loyola College with a double major in chemistry and Spanish. A 1997 graduate of Old Mill High School, she plans to pursue graduate studies in chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
