Driver in fatal crash sentenced to probation

July 19, 2001|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A Pasadena driver whose one-car crash took the life of his friend's brother was sentenced yesterday to a year of probation, after the victim's family advocated for counseling over punishment.

Anne Arundel County Circuit Judge Joseph P. Manck said he would consider changing the sentence for Brian M. Morrison, 22, to probation before judgment if Morrison completes probation, said prosecutor Shelley Stickell.

Morrison pleaded guilty in May to negligent manslaughter for the Aug. 6 accident that killed Christopher August, 17, of Riviera Beach.
