Baltimore police are seeking a 21-year-old West Baltimore man in the serious burning of a 62-year-old woman in Southwest Baltimore, police said yesterday.
William L. Spencer of the 2400 block of Presbury St. has been charged with arson.
About 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Spencer fought with his girlfriend at her house in the 400 block of Parrish St., police said. Spencer left and returned about 25 minutes later with a glass containing liquid, which police said they suspect was gasoline.
He is accused of pouring the liquid on his girlfriend, Lashelle Bryant, 21, and some splashed on Bryant's grandmother, Sandra Jeffries, police said. As friends pushed him out of the house, Spencer is accused of striking a match.
Bryant and several other people escaped with minor injuries. Jeffries suffered second- and third-degree burns over most of her body, police said. She was listed in critical condition yesterday in the burn unit at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, police said.
Anyone with information about Spencer's whereabouts may call the Warrant Apprehension Task Force at 410-637-8970.
