Man is critically injured in dive into pool during bachelor party

July 16, 2001

A 23-year-old Severna Park man was in critical condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore yesterday after he dove into a pool and suffered a cervical fracture to his neck, Anne Arundel County fire officials reported.

Travis Jackson of the 500 block of Knollwood Road was attending a bachelor party at his home about 5:30 a.m. yesterday when he dove into the pool and struck his head, authorities said. Friends pulled him from the water and performed CPR until paramedics arrived, said Anne Arundel Fire Department Capt. Steven Thompson.

Jackson was resuscitated by emergency workers and taken to North Arundel Hospital, where he was stabilized before being sent to Shock Trauma, Thompson said. Authorities didn't know in whose honor the bachelor party was held.
