At 8:38 a.m., county firefighters responded to the 6200 block of McKendree Road, near Route 258, for the small blaze and discovered the remains in a ravine, said Capt. Steve Thompson, a fire department spokesman.

The age and race of the victim were not immediately known. The remains were taken to the state medical examiner's office in Baltimore for an autopsy. Results were expected this morning.
